In simple terms, the conditions are intended for contracts for medium-sized deliveries of machinery and plants where the contractor is responsible for installation and acceptance tests. They are the most common General Conditions in the Nordic countries for such deliveries. NLM 19 E also regulate the rights and obligations of the parties with respect to software included in the plant as well as the contractor’s liability if the plant infringes intellectual property rights held by third parties.

Due to an error in the translation of NLM 19 into English (NLM 19 E), the document has been corrected on February 12, 2021. The correction concerns clause 66, where the text "...the Contractor shall have no liability for defects in any part of the Works for more than two years from the end of the liability period referred to in Clause 56...” has been changed to “...the Contractor shall have no liability for defects in any part of the Works for more than one year from the end of the liability period referred to in Clause 56, first sentence...”. The document NLM 19 E that is available here is thus the corrected version. We apologize for this and ask users to dispose of all incorrect copies in electronic and physical form to avoid problems.
